Twitter

Now, twitter has been officially sold to Elon Musk. Also, it will be delisted from the Stock Exchange and moved to as a private firm. So, what’s up?

Well, for me, it is a good idea for a company to have less social pressure when it is a private company. Public companies are controlled but the – well, public – especially the pressure of making money for the shareholders. I can’t imagine the pressure of running a public company in social media .

But social media companies were supposed to be a meeting place where people collaborate, discuss and be civil. There would be a time of disagreement but they usually go to their corner of the square and discuss with peers.

I remember when social media was just words. When people were so happy to see each other online. When college friends were united even when they’re so far away. Back then, it was very innocent.

I fear, when greed in all sense of it’s slimy features, enters the fray, it really disrupts the life of peace loving users. Corporate greed is so prevalent in social media. And through corporate greed, people becomes very narcissistic. What do influencers influence you? Well, it’s the corporate agenda and inventory. Have you seen any influencer not being paid any corporation? Yes? Well, who pays them to be called an influencer? The Social Media company (FB, Instagram, etc)? And show pays the social media company to do it? The Advertisers? And who buys from advertisers? Those the influencer sells to. Don’t you see the circle of activity here?

My influencer is not on social media. Although, He has been called up a lot on social media. But his presence is never in and about social media. And when the earth loses it value in a sense of, say, no power, my influencer will still be there. If ever the earth reverts back to the Stone Age and I live in a cave, my influencer will still be there.

I’m happy that Twitter is now and will be a private company. And I will more likely join in again. Or Maybe. I have been away from any social platform and I quite happy.
