No my visit, mind you, but from Nancy Pelosi from the US. A high ranking official’s visit.

China has warned the US not to go through with the visit but Nancy Pelosi is a hardcore supporter of Taiwan. Much to our surprise, their plane did not go straight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but went around the south and east of the Philippines.

China however, mobilized their Eastern Command Forces. And even taunted Taiwan with a show of force through firing of missiles towards Taiwan.

This is a double edged sword. One edge is a show of the US’ stand and to show that it can’t be intimidated. On the other edge, it is a chance for China to use the invasion as legal means especially when the entourage leaves the island nation.

We will see how stern the US will be in protecting Taiwan.
